Shinto is the indigenous spirituality of Japan. Ritual meets nature.

Shinto centers on kami (sacred spirits) associated with nature, places, and ancestors, and is practiced through rituals at shrines. It often coexists with Buddhism in Japan, with many people participating in both traditions.
